Access a student loan at any time of the year of up to $1,000 usually over 12 months.

The great part is that this loan is completely interest-free and can be used for whatever you need it for as a current student, whether it is for study-related expenses like housing, books, extra classes, food, entertainment, etc.

You can apply whether you are a domestic or international student. Even though the typical repayment term for this loan is 12 months you can opt for other options that will allow you to pay it back before graduating or even after that.   

The Arthur and Renee George foundation loan

This loan cannot be used for overseas placement and can be repaid in the first or second year after graduation. These loans are available for up to $2000 per year and are available to undergraduate students enrolled in a limited range of faculties.

All the same documentation criteria for the interest-free loan need to be submitted. Once your student loan has been approved, the money will be paid into your preferred bank account within 10 working days.

International student loan schemes

You might be eligible to apply for an education loan scheme from your country if you are from the United States, Sweden, Canada, Norway, or Denmark. The University of Sydney Student Loans - Reaching Great Potential

Fill in your application form and make sure that you have all the supporting documents that are required for the loan application you choose.

Submit your application and documents to the relevant online department. If you are eligible for a loan, a financial support staff member will contact you to arrange for a telephonic appointment.

At this appointment, you will agree on a repayment plan. Once your online loan is approved and the loan agreement and repayment schedule have been signed, the terms of your loan are legally binding.

Your loan amount will be paid into your bank account within 10 working days. Make sure that the nominated bank account details are correct when submitted.

The interest-free loan with the following requirements

  • You must be an undergraduate or postgraduate student at the University of Sydney.
  • Be a domestic or international student.
  • If you can prove that you can repay the loan within the terms of repayment conditions.

What you will need for the interest-free loan

  • A Personal Statement saying you would like to be eligible for an interest-free loan and be able to show that you can repay the loan.
  • A bank statement of 30 days or more.
  • Documents of future financial responsibilities.
  • Proof of Centrelink if relevant.

All bank statements must be in PDF format 

  • Official logo or bank name.
  • Your full name.
  • Account number.

You will need to upload your application with your supporting documents.
